belle pre

When the Belle Pre Bottling Company opened in 1902, the factory at the intersection of Henry and Madison was one of three glassworks operating in Alexandria, VA. In 1906, though, the company broke through the competition by introducing a milk bottle that was notched at the top to make removing the paper cap easier.

It’s that spirit of innovation, modern living and Old Town Alexandria that Equity’s carried over to their brand-new community at that same spot, now called 1111 Belle Pre. All the conveniences of city living, with one-of-a-kind shopping, dining, and transportation options, are combined with environmentally-conscious design and architectural beauty. The 360 apartments, designed by locally acclaimed architecture firm Sk&I Architects, feature light-filled interiors with full height windows alongside custom designed kitchens and baths. Innovative and adaptable bathrooms allow a couple to utilize the space simultaneously. Every home is crafted with custom details and environmentally responsible, high-quality finishes that create a living experience that’s a step above what’s been available before.

The Equity Residential development team’s emphasis on integrating the outdoors into a comfortable living space is on full display at 1111 Belle Pre. The stunning courtyard features elegantly designed landscaping by Parker-Rodriquez. At the center of the courtyard is commissioned art by Studio William Cochran, crafted from glass as a tribute to the bottling plant and to capture the reflection of natural light between two buildings. The extensive roof park showcases kitchen and barbeque areas, outdoor dining and picnic sections with a reflection pool, as well as a fire pit, serving bar and an all-season lounge with stunning Washington Monument view.

The garage will offer bike storage and a wheel workshop for the bike enthusiast. 1111 Belle Pre is a candidate for the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver designation, which takes into consideration the purposeful planning for water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources as well as indoor environmental quality.

Residents will call Belle Pre home with first move-ins in November of this year, joining Carlyle Mill, Reserve at Eisenhower, Skyline Towers, Town Square at Mark Center and Reserve at Potomac Yard as part of the Equity Residential Alexandria collection of apartment communities.
